Sigur\u00f0ur sat \u00ed stj\u00f3rn Myndlistarf\u00e9lagsins 2020 &#8211; 2022 og \u00ed s\u00fdningarstj\u00f3rn Mj\u00f3lkurb\u00fa\u00f0arinnar, salar Myndlistarf\u00e9lagsins 2019 &#8211; 2022 og er n\u00fa stj\u00f3rnarma\u00f0ur \u00ed Gilf\u00e9laginu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sigur\u00f0ur Mar Halld\u00f3rsson<\/strong> (b. 1964) is an Icelandic visual artist and photographer based in Akureyri. He studied photography in Gothenburg, Sweden, in the late 1980s, and later earned his Master Craftsman certification in photography in Iceland. He completed a degree in education at the University of Akureyri. Alongside his artistic practice, he has taught fine art photography at Menntask\u00f3linn in Tr\u00f6llaskaga for more than fifteen years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working across photography, painting and mixed media, Halld\u00f3rsson explores the boundaries between photography and material object. His practice embraces slow, analogue processes. He often uses obsolete cameras, expired film and handmade developers, which allow chance and chemical transformation to become active collaborators in the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has received project grants on three occasions and published the photobook S\u00f6gur (Stories), which received the Hornafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Cultural Award in 2017. His work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions in Iceland, including Stories, After Winter, Obscure Landscape and Darkness.
